Services

Sessions built around who lives in your house

Most families start with one kind of session and add another. Your clinician sets the pace with you.

  • A therapist sitting in an armchair, listening to a teenager seen from behind

    Teen therapy

For ages 13 to 19. Fifty minutes on their own with Bria, in a room that does not feel like school or a clinic.

    About teen therapy
  • A family of four doing a jigsaw puzzle together at a wooden kitchen table

    Family therapy

Everyone who shares a table: parents, stepparents, grandparents, siblings and stepsiblings. Anibal helps the household talk about what changed.

    About family therapy
  • An older couple sitting together on a porch swing, looking out at the street

    Parent and caregiver sessions

Just the adults: a stepparent finding their footing, a grandparent raising a grandchild, a foster parent with questions.

How it works

From first message to first session

Four steps, and none of them asks your teen to explain themselves to a stranger first.

  1. Step 1: You write or call

Tell us who lives in your home and what you would like to be different. A person answers within one business day.

  2. Step 2: Paperwork from home

A parent or legal guardian signs the consent. For a child in foster care, we ask for the paperwork from the person or agency that holds that authority.

  3. Step 3: The first session

The adults talk with the clinician first. Then your teen meets them alone. The last minutes are for everyone together.

  4. Step 4: A plan at your pace

Your clinician suggests who comes to which session and how often, and changes it when your family's life changes.

How fees work

The answers to what nearly everyone asks before a first session.

  • Insurance we work with

Bower is in network with most PPO plans and out of network with the rest. We do not bill Medicare and we do not take Medicaid; if that is your plan, we will gladly give you the names of practices that do. If a child is in foster care, tell us when you write: the caseworker can tell us how the agency pays for counseling.

    • Most PPO plans

    • Out of network with other plans

    • No Medicare or Medicaid

  • If you pay yourself

If you pay without insurance, you pay at the end of each session by card, including HSA and FSA cards. Your fee is given to you in writing before you start. A limited number of reduced-fee spots open now and then; ask how to request one. We ask for 24 hours' notice to change an appointment.

  • Receipts for reimbursement

Each month we give you an itemized receipt (a superbill) with the dates and kinds of session, to send to your plan, which may reimburse part of out-of-network care. It carries a diagnosis code your insurer can see. Your plan decides whether it pays anything; ask it before you start.

  • An estimate in advance

If you pay without insurance, you have the right to receive a written Good Faith Estimate of what your care will cost before you start. We send one before the first session. If the final bill is $400 or more above the estimate, you can dispute it. The estimate is not a contract.

  • Checking your benefits

If you use insurance, we check your benefits before the first session and tell you in writing what we found, including any copay or deductible. If you do not use insurance, there is nothing to check.

Questions

What families ask first

Do you take my insurance?

We are in network with most PPO plans and out of network with the rest. We do not bill Medicare, and we do not take Medicaid. If we are not the right fit for your plan, we will give you the names of practices that are. How fees work has the details.

What happens in the first session?

The adults meet the clinician first, then the teen meets them alone, and the last few minutes are for everyone together. It is a conversation, not a test, and nobody has to tell a whole story.

How often do we meet, and for how long?

Sessions are 50 minutes, and most families meet every week or every other week at the start. Your clinician sets the pace with you and changes it when your family's life changes.

Are you licensed where I live?

Our clinicians are licensed in Georgia. For video sessions, the person in therapy needs to be in Georgia during the session. Each clinician's page shows the license they hold.

What is confidential, and what are the limits?

What your teen says stays between them and their clinician, with limits we explain at the first session: a risk of serious harm, abuse or neglect we are required to report, and a court order.

Can you see my teen, and how does consent work?

Yes, ages 13 to 19. For anyone under 18, a parent or legal guardian signs the consent before the first session. For a child in foster care, we ask for the paperwork from the person or agency that holds that authority.
